Just Something

As I was driving to office today, it started drizzling, then it turned to rain, then it started really pouring down. Well, as all this was happening, I noticed a sweet, musky, muddy smell, something very familiar, something that reminded of home, home back in India, home at my grandmas, what was it ? something so silly, that I don't realize or pay attention to, these small things were such a joy to behold. Then it hit me, that was the smell of the rain as it hits the ground, the smell of the soil as its gets wet, the dust that is kicked up as the first drops of water touch the ground.

I guess these are things we don't pay attention to as we grow up and move out. The small things we took for granted, the smells, the intimacy you feel in certain rooms at your native place, the scenes that play before your eyes at certain places, the occasions that happened in those places, I could just go on and go on.

Maybe I miss all that, maybe I am just a bit too senti today, maybe...., I am not sure. I don't know if my kid will share the same sentiments with me, or she will have such thoughts, maybe....., she might find them silly, old man's thoughts, i don't know.

Its like when you hear a particular tune, you feel something, you relate it to an event in your life, you remember something of the past, you remember some occasion, you remember someone. It triggers a lot of emotions in you, something happens to you, something sad, something pleasant, it makes you smile.

I am just rambling, I don't know what i am trying to say or prove or maybe nothing, if you don't like it, please move away to another website, you don't have to listen to me, really, unless if you want to.

Anyway, there are lots of things that remind you of something of the past, something pleasant, something near you heart. Like for example, the other day, I was just sitting on the swing in my patio and I gave it a little push, as I was moving forward and backward, it suddenly reminded me of the times in my mum's place, of the times when I used to sit on the 'Aatu Kattil'(Bed Swing) and swing real hard and my mum and Ammamma would scold me for swinging too hard. Of the times when we cousins would get together at my dad's place, put up a swing on a mango tree and swing away to glory.

Those were some times, the adolescence, the youth, the infatuations, the love we thought was love, something to remember and smile now. These were not too long ago, but then it feels like ages, makes you feel old. Would I done things differently if I had a chance to relive them, not totally, maybe a little, maybe...just maybe.

Trip to Orlando, Florida

We flew down to Orlando on 19th night 8.40pm, Continental Airlines.

Stayed at Sleep Inn from 20th to 23rd. Lost one of our bags, the one with Anushka's stuff, had to go out and buy her stuff to sustain for a day. We got it the next day night. Visited Universal Studios 2days and Sea World the third day. Then we shifted to the All Star Music Resort in Disney World on 23rd. Enjoyed Disney Parks for 4 days(23rd to 26th). Went to MGM Studios the first day, Magic Kingdom the second day, Epcot on the third day and Animal Kingdom on the 4th day.

When in Magic Kingdom, we had a character lunch with the characters Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. It was fun. We enjoyed it very much, Anushka was thrilled with the whole thing.

We flew back on 27th morning at 9.10am. Aparna started to get things ready for the next days party. We had a Birthday party for Anushka on 28th evening at 6pm. Aparna prepared everything herself and did it good too. We got Anushka a Pooh Cake from Wegmans. It was delicious. Aparna food was great too, everybody liked it. We were exhausted by the time the party was over.

Niagara Falls

We left for Niagara Falls on the 9th from home, its a 8 hour drive, the longest for me yet. We left around 9.40am from our place, the drive was just too beautiful to describe. Nice fall colors, you name it. It was just breathtaking.

Switching to VOIP

I am planning to use vonage as my telephone provider for local, long distance and international. I ordered the package yesterday, lets see how it works.

Anu's passport form submitted today

Today was a little crazy, we went to the iselin post office to submit Anushka's application form for a passport and were told to go to the municipality office. There, we were told that we would have to go to the county clerk's office in New Brunswick, so finally, we went there.

It took only 10-15 minutes over there, people out there were helpful and we were done by 12.20pm. We came home, had lunch and I took the train to Office.

I was only planning to go a couple of hours late to office, well, almost ended up taking half a day off.

Anyhow, the work is done and thats what counts.

Aparna started pushing around 5 am today, Man, thats tough work, lot of pain and Blood. Its scary if you are not used to blood. Anushka was born at 6.57 am today, weighs 7.89 pounds and is 20 inches tall.

Wow, I am a dad. Wow, Wow, Wow.

Its hard to believe. She is the most cutest and beautiful baby, I have seen. I guess, every dad says the same thing. We are so happy the way things turned out. It was normal delivery with no complications. God has really been kind to us, we thank him a million times. We are so very indebted to him.

This is the happiest day of our life.

Its a long wait now, her contractions are getting closer and closer now. She is in a lot a pain when her contractions happen. She has asked for the epidural to be administered to her. They will be doing that anytime now. We (Aparna, Aai and Myself) are waiting in the Delivery Suite. Long wait.................

Update : In the hospital

We got admitted today, Aparna was told that she is opening up, getting ready to deliver, so we are staying. Could be anytime now.

Gave Aparna's doctor a call, she asked us to visit the hospital (J.F.K Medical Center, Edison) and get checked up.
